Advent Digest #2 + News

Updated: Dec 20, 2025

Hello again:

Unbelievably, Christmas is just five days away. I've been scrambling slightly even while pausing to reflect at length, which helps keep me grounded. I hope you've been able to carve out some quiet time to stay anchored and expectant in the midst of it all.

Here are this week's posts, which cover a lot of spiritual ground, all centered on the Reason for the Season.

  • Have a Seat — A vivid vision of truly embracing God's invitation to sit quietly for a spell and the struggle that still keeps some of us (me) moving.

  • Wonderful Counselor A Guideposts reflection on Christ as the most “Wonderful Counselor” from Isaiah 9:6.

  • Joy Magnified How Isaac amplifies the fun of this joyful season.

  • Prayer for the Lonely — A brief, compassionate prayer to consider Christ’s work and presence in solitary seasons.

  • Pruning Predates Purpose How pruning the Christmas tree reminds us of a painful part of spiritual growth for God’s good purposes.

I'm also very grateful to report some welcome Christmas news:

  • Inspiration from the Garden, Just got my advance author copies of Guideposts’ Inspiration from the Garden, which includes reflections by me and other greener thumbs inspired by gardening. Preorder now for February delivery:  https://a.co/d/ja3zq8Q

  • Mornings with Jesus 2028. I just signed a contract to contribute to Mornings with Jesus 2028. I’m so honored to be contributing more entries than ever, including New Year’s Day. Wowza.

Speaking of sitting quietly, I've been meaning to do just that and plan to step away a bit this week.

If we don't connect again before then, Merriest Christmas and Happiest New Year!

Thanks to each of you for reading my work, for your encouragement, and for sharing this journey with me.

Love & blessings,

P.S. Today is the last day to order Sage Sayings & Slogans and Waterworks in time for Christmas. Both available on Amazon here.
