10 Days to Re/Turn

Tonight at sunset marks Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year and the beginning of the Ten Days of Awe—ten days of intensified reflection, repentance, and restitution leading up to Yom Kippur (October 1).
These days were observed by Jesus, the early believers, and many faithful still today. Regardless, it’s always a good time for a holy housecleaning.
"No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way." Hebrews 12:11 (NLT)
You know I don’t believe in coincidences—and today brings two striking ones.
✨ Sunset is at 7:27, and Psalm 27 is traditionally read during these holy days, morning and evening.
✨ This year Rosh Hashanah also falls on the autumnal equinox, echoing themes of light and darkness, judgment and mercy, repentance and renewal. I have not been able to find another time this has happened. Ever.
All of this highlights God’s sovereignty over appointed times.
In recovery, repentance is the cornerstone of the Twelve Steps: initial and ongoing surrender, confession, repentance, and restitution. And let’s be honest—some of us have sampled hell and didn’t like it much. Could it be that much of our angst and anguish is really about alignment—living out of sync with God’s design?
We no longer bring lambs to the temple, but because of the Lamb who was slain, we bring our whole selves as living sacrifices.
Some say “once saved, always saved,” but that’s a very new idea in church history. Scripture reminds us that judgment begins with the house of God (1 Peter 4:17). Jesus’ letters to the churches in Revelation are written for our benefit—to expose sin, so we can turn away from whatever has its hold. He never reveals without being ready to forgive and heal when we repent.
The true meaning of “awe” is reverential fear—remembering God is God, and we are not.
During these sacred days, I’ll be sharing reflections and prayers. Let’s re/turn to the One who loves us—and discover the freedom, joy, and peace He longs to give.
“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.” (Romans 12:1, NLT)
Prayer:
Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world, open our eyes and hearts to see how we’ve strayed, and the wisdom to re/turn to You, because You love us and long to have us near forever. Amen. Thank You. I love You.💖
P.S. During these Ten Days of Awe, I don’t want to flood your inbox. Instead, I’ll be sharing daily reflections on Facebook and on my homepage. Join me there if you’d like to walk this out together.

Isabella, I went to see my doctor and was partially seen by this person named Wynter who was filling in for her. I don't know what she gave me, but I fill worse now and my friend says I should finish them. What should I do? I rather have my faith in God to heal me.
