When Things Look Grim

I’m reminded how absolutely shattered Jesus’ disciples would have been this morning. How baffling, bleak, hopeless, and disillusioning the prospects as they witnessed Jesus’ march into darkness—defeat and uncertainty gaping.

I’m reminded of the gripping fear and flight.

I’m reminded how some would be overcome with shame at turning away from Him.

I’m reminded how Jesus had repeatedly reminded them of His glorious third day rise and demonstrated His miracle working power—including over death—over and over. Right there in front of them!

I’m reminded that even then, they were often stunningly dense and disbelieving.

I’m reminded how Christ Himself willingly walked through a series of unspeakably unjust, agonizing encounters over a few hours to face down death for us. Abandoned and alone.

I’m reminded Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do” and “It is finished.”

I’m reminded that God graciously left these reminders for us.

Take heart. No matter how disheartening the circumstances in this moment, we know…KNOW…

Resurrection is coming. For love.🤍✨🌅
